I was scrolling through my camera last night when I realized I totally forgot to post these photos of this mural I stumbled on for the first time somewhere near the whole Chinatown/Vine Street Expressway/Convention Center parking area I took a few weeks ago.

I know it’s not new or anything, and I’m sure it’s Mural Arts related (and I typically tend to focus on more on the guerilla Philly street art side of things,) but nevertheless it caught my eye and I’m completely in love with it!!

Thought I’d share it too, because who the hell ever really wonders the alleys over there, you know? Though you might not have seen it either.

To be fair, this was actually now about a week ago now, but I’ve had a busy week (read: I’ve been catching up on Downton Abbey [read: I've watched nearly 2 straight seasons of Downton Abbey in the course of 5 days]) and don’t pretend like you’ve never let something slip before.

Back to the poetry. Is this poetry? Or just some clever thoughts on Spring time in Philly? Either way, thanks to Nissa for tweeting me about finding these. I’m sure they’re all gone by now, but I wonder what the rest said. (Nissa said she counted no less than 10 on her way to work, but only snapped shots of the ones above.)

Have any of you seen these?

Recently relocated (from New York) artist, Miss Gracki, just brought her little installation project, called the Petting Zoo, of “simply spray painting plastic animals gold and gluing them around the city” to Philadelphia… And I’m kinda really feeling this.

It’s the little things, you know?

I’ve pasted by this spot on Walnut street about a million times, and I think I’ve thought this same exact thing about at least a half million times… How is that little street not 1,000 times cuter, right?!

Gah!! Follow me on Instagram at @StreetsDept, and I promise I’ll find you at least 50 more romantic spots than this (potentially literal) shit hole around the city by the end of the summer… Or I’ll try anyway. You can’t really hold me to that.

Awesome new Lies paste on Juniper street at Sansom!! Titled “Beauty Lies,” this piece was made with acrylic paint on paperpaste, according to the artist. (Photo by the artist too… Thanks for sending that over man!!)

Who is that, by the way? Lies does a lot of Philly sports related people, so I’m guessing this is some sports dude, but I’m not sure.

I’m sure this has been here for a little while, but I just saw this little guy outside the Rocket Cat in Fishtown for the first time yesterday… LOVE it!!

So cute. (Although I’m sure any artist would hate me for calling their work “cute,” it totally is!!)

And p.s. is this possibly the work of Space Invader?!

Spotted two of these “This is Real” signs around town yesterday. One on 2nd street in Old City, and one on 9th(?) and Spring Garden… Both were just laying up against walls, so if you wanna go grab one, feel free!!

And yes, if these signs look familiar, they do appear to be the same ones from my art show at PhilaMOCA last October, Streets Dept Presents.

That said, I’m still not sure who the artist is, or what this is all about, but I like it… I think.
