On Monday I started a petition to urge the city to let us paint a mural on the now blank back of the PSFS Building, and, pretty quickly, those of you in favor of the mural started saying who you think would be the perfect artist for the job.

As it turned out, many of you think Steve Powers (the artist behind the much beloved Love Letter murals along the El route in West Philly) or NoseGo could do something dynamic with this, and, lucky for me, a rather talented Philadelphia designer and illustrator, Mike Meulstee, felt the same and sent in this FANTASTIC representation of what a Steve Powers/NoseGo mural might look like on the PSFS!!

Thank you so much Mike!! By the way, you all should go check out his site HERE… The man is quite talented.

So, what do y’all think?!

  1. LOL..first of all i work within the PSFS building and Loews Hotels owns the building and there is no way they would allow it… oh and also..your mural looks like dogshit

How are you going to get the city to allow a bunch of hipsters to vandalize a privately owned building? This is an extremely historic building and a part of Philadelphia’s identity. To put a ridiculous mural on it would be a tragedy. And who will pay for this project? You? Oh no…you’ll force Philadelphia taxpayers to foot the bill so you can feel good about yourself. You hipster dipshits should be ashamed of yourselves.

  3. Is that a duck-billed apple trying a butt rape a panda? Where did you come up with such a wonderful and unique concept? Oh right, it came to you while having a bad trip in your mom’s basement…

  4. I don’t hate murals or hipsters like the above commenters, but I think this is a very ugly mural and I don’t understand it. I think given that I was with you until I saw the picture… you could alienate people if this is your pitch for the idea.

  5. you forgot the apostrophe. just saying.

  6. Run this idea before the Philadelphia Historical Commission because it is locally listed as an historic property and would need that agency’s approval.

  7. Love the idea of a mural, but I loathe the design you propose. If we’re going to look at something that huge, it ought not be as hideous as this.

  8. worse idea ever. this is a national historic landmark for a reason. and your design looks like my butt.

OK idea, HORRIBLE execution. That mural looks terrible! What does this have to do with Philadelphia? How will it make our city a better place? Oh, it won’t – it’ll just give this phony hack hipster-cum-pop artist some street cred. Ugly, ugly, ugly
