Located in the Hunting Park neighborhood of North Philadelphia, the former Budd Co. plant is a conglomeration of 20 buildings totaling 2.4 million square feet on 75 acres. It’s so large, in fact – Ruin Porn reports that she’d have to post about 20 pictures alone to show the entire exterior!

Even more impressive, perhaps, is that the vast majority of these acres is currently abandoned… While there was some talk of refurbishing the space into a “Budd Commerce Center” in 2004 by Preferred Real Estate Investments, a Conshohocken developer that had focused on buying similar properties and converting them into office space, and even into a Donald Trump proposed casino back in 2006 (luckily that didn’t happen,) it’s hard to tell what the current plan is, if there is any.

It does deserve mentioning that The Kroc center, a really sweet education, recreation, and cultural arts center, did get built on a portion of this land, but there are acres of ruin left to be developed.
