Crazy news. So Friday night I headed over to the Academy of Natural Sciences for the 1st annual Philly Geek Awards, presented by Geekadelphia. I was ask to present two awards with Leah Kauffman of Phrequency.com: “Best New Podcast” (of course, our friends over at Talkadelphia swept that one!) and “Best New Vodcast/Web Television Show.”

All was going according to plan when, out of (seemingly) nowhere, they presented this here blog and me with an award for “Geek Culture Journalism!” CRAZY!! I guess people like what I’m doing here.

So, totally unprepared, I ran onstage and gave a speech to some 500 people where I stood shocked asking the question, “Wait, why did this just happen?” I think I then quickly mentioned glitter bombing the audience, or something, then I was back in my seat… It’s really all a blur now.

But anyway, thanks to Geekadelphia for the surprise! I feel so honored. Truly.
