Awesome new project by Jill Saull in Germantown uses images of people from the Germantown community to comment on community and surveillance.

“Seeing, Being Seen: Eyes On The Community is a comment on community and surveillance. What does it mean to ‘see’ or ‘hear’?  What does it mean to be ‘watched’?  How does being watched alter the way we present ourselves? What does it meant to be part of a community.” -Jill Saull

Project is ongoing with plans to install on more blocks in Germantown.

    What does it mean to be stabbed, shot and/or robbed in that same community, and how would you feel about surveillance then?

      Bob, This piece isn’t an indictment on surveillance on the contrary, my intention was to start conversation about what it means to be part of a community, what does one do or what should one do when they witness something. In addition I pose questions about how one behaves if they know they are being watched. And further, how does it feel knowing a community is keeping an eye out/on for each other. There is definitely a lot to ponder here. Thanks for taking to time to comment.
