Over the last few weeks you may have noticed some lame posters from some NY-based clothing company (which has a store on South Street) using the image of Donald Trump to, well, get your attention. Those posters are now all covered up by some much more inspired Bernie Sanders posters created by Brooks Bell (Co-owner/Designer, The Decades Hat Co.)

FUCK YES! I’m ‘feeling the Bern’ so hard, and I love this purely for that.

And honestly, I hadn’t thought of it more than that until I read Brooks’ insightful reason for specifically covering up the Trump posters:

“As many people know, I recently covered a bunch of Donald Trump posters in Philly with my own Bernie Sanders posters. To give a back story, the Trump posters were advertisements for a store on South Street. They maintain that because they added gold teeth and their logo to his hat that the posters read as an ad for their shop not Trump. I disagree with this. We live in a dumbed-down, monkey see monkey do society and pasting a pop culture icon (and overall shithead’s) face all over our city appropriated to promote your store or not sends the wrong message. As young free thinking creatives we have a responsibility to be aware of our powers of influence and use it to our advantage to better society whenever possible. This store questioned why with a city full of walls why we would cover their posters. TO BE CLEAR THAT WAS THE POINT. Living in arguably the most progressive and liberal area of a swing state the last thing I want to see or have be seen is Donald Trump’s racist face staring back at me when I’m walking around my neighborhood… BERNIE FUCKING SANDERS FOR PRESIDENT. Stand for something or fall for anything.“
