WINNER) @chadharnish

Thanks again to everyone who participated in the Philadelphia Museum of Art + StreetsDept.com #InsideOutUSA Photo Contest!

We got so many great entries, it was really hard to pick just one, so I’ve decided to pull together a little Top 5 list that includes four more of my favorite entries in addition to the winner.

And as you can (likely) tell from the photo above, I have picked @chadharnish‘s photo as the winner! In addition to being featured right here on StreetsDept.com and @StreetsDept’s Instagram today, Chad will have his photo printed and displayed inside the PMA for two weeks and receive a $500 gift certificate for Art on Demand purchases at the Museum!

While many, MANY of the entries were eye-catching, Chad’s photo just spoke to me. I liked the sense of calm the photo’s greenery and relaxed subject initially gave me. I liked the juxtaposition of the painting’s grand architecture with the every-day orange-coned streetscape of Old City. I liked how the arches in the painting mirror the arches on Christ Church behind it, or visa versa, and how it made my eyes dance back and forth comparing the two. I liked how the width of the real-life tree matched the width of the ceiling in the painting, almost making it look like the tree was growing out of the painting… Such a great job, Chad, congrats!

Check out the runners-up below, all of whom shot BEAUTIFUL photos themselves… I suppose it goes without saying that y’all should probably follow these five amazing Philly Instagrammers to continue seeing more of their work!

1st Runner Up) @mark.hylton

2nd Runner Up) @laurastorck
