Trio of NYC Graffiti Legends Create Wall of New Murals Behind Philly’s Union Transfer

June 25, 2019

Incredible work: New York City graffiti legends Crash, Daze, and Lady Pink teamed up with Philly-based artist and muralist Adam Crawford last month to create a wall of new murals here in Philly! Created with Mural Arts Philadelphia and support by Arts & Crafts Holdings, the murals went up behind Union Transfer on Nectarine street between 10th and 11th streets.

“The Union Transfer project features the original players in New York’s street art movement who are responsible for elevating what was once a nuisance crime to what is now a coveted and collected legitimate art medium,” a press release from Arts & Crafts Holdings reads. “The 15-foot wall surfaces, historic arches, and central location made this the perfect place to curate this installation, which blends legendary artistic talent with one of Philadelphia’s emerging talents.”

“I am so excited about our new public art endeavor on the back of Union Transfer,” added Mural Arts Philadelphia’s Executive Director Jane Golden. “Thanks to support from Arts and Crafts, Mural Arts is able to present exciting new work from some of our country’s most iconic graffiti artists as well as local talent from Philadelphia. The work promises to be rich, fun, energetic, and inspiring. It takes us back to our roots and inspires us to look forward. Philadelphia has one of the most diverse collections of public art in the world and a project like this keeps us on a national and international stage.”
