New NoLibs Shop: The Lodge

February 14, 2011

Awesome new shop, The Lodge, just opened up at 177 West Girard avenue in Northern Liberties about two weeks ago, and today they’ve got 15% off–20% off for couples!! (TODAY ONLY)

I stopped by over the weekend to take some photos and I pretty much feel in love with the place. They have a decent selection of men’s and women’s clothing, both new and vintage, as well as housewares and art. Everything I saw had a good price, and nearly everything in the store is for sale–aside from the moose head the dude’s grandfather shot himself like 50 years ago. Check it out the next time you’re in the neighborhood.

Everything looks great…MINUS MOUNTED ANIMAL HEADS. They need some flannel shirts and bright orange jackets while they are at it.

The artwork is very contrived. I feel like i just walked up the stairs to the third floor of Urban Outfitters. Perhaps they should have some hunter’s sporting their fresh kills mounted instead.

When I come to think of it, why not just shop at Urban Outfitters instead? It’s practically the same clothing, although more expensive.

I’m just going to shop at Urban Outfitters, atleast they don’t stick dead animals on their walls and promote human stupidity.

I don’t see this place hanging around too long….pretty soon the Lodge will be the GARAGE….ooooooouuuucchhh

You are completely entitled to your opinion and in no way do we take offense to your comment. However, why wouldn’t you support a local shop that sells mostly locally made goods instead of importing everything from factories that exploit their workers. I understand your take on mounted animals, but what you don’t realize is what major companies do to animals for food is extremely stupid for humanity and the enviroment. These animals were killed and mounted, but that process is one of nature. Lodge is making changes in shopping by carrying companies that care and that have a conscious. Sure go to places like Urban and make them even richer, your talking about companies that underpay employees and vendors to market to a mass media of drones. Stay in your shell, cause Lodge left that shell when the doors opened and we are here to stay and bring in respected products day in and day out. Thanks to streets dept for the interest and write up, keep posting and supporting those who support you… I will be posting the write up on

    And haters, just keep hating!

Anyone that’s got the balls to open a shop up on Girard NOW, before there’s an Urban Outfitters there in a few years has my vote and my money. I’ll see ya’ll soon.

PS saw them painting the outside on a freezing cold Friday night a few weeks back. Love that shit.

Are these the same dudes who ran that terrible shop on south street Pedestrian? That ripped off the entire stocklist from WTHN in Olde City?

I stopped by lodge yesterday, after hearing all the hype and it looks like these kids just stole everything from Arcadia, Exit Skateshop, Fresh Melt, and the Salvation Army.

    Don’t believe the hype

    • February 16, 2011 12:23 pm

I managed PEDX, but had no invlovement in the buying or business of that shop. WTHN knew what it was! And people who used to work at WTHN support LODGE and helped build this spot. As for ripping of the places you named…

Arcadia-Mostly womens and not much for local companies, they are a little more high end then here. And a great shop that should people should support if they dont.

Exit- I carry Radlands, and that brand over laps nothing else. However it is a local company and my friends company. Im sure neither Exit or Radlands have any problem with supporting those who support them.

FMW Shop- I am a partner in FMW, Lodge is a progression of that shop.

Salvation Army- I dont steal from them, we actually take donations to there and Goodwill.

Think want you want tho. Cause what have you done for fashion in this city?

i saw some other stencils Gitty had in the opening, never saw his ray gun piece tho. doesn’t look as clean as the others he had up. he must have been drinking when he made it. lol.

You idiots. Skwrl didn’t do those stencils. Whoever did though is obviously str8 biting his dick! Looks like the same exact style, even the same typa imagery. Fuckin biters. No originality what so ever. Get your own style!

        p.s. I love lamp.

Two are Gitty’s stencil’s and his life long friend did the other two. They have been creating work together for years. No one is biting or riding anyone’s dick.

All I know is, Gitty was the only one stenciling on windows for years. Then all of a sudden someone else started doing the same exact shit? That’s far from creating work together. That’s what you call dick riding. If they were creating work together they would have been in the same studio collaborating since the beginning. If dick rider wasn’t there creating the style from the beginning, then he was there biting it after the fact. It’s pretty cut and dry.

Smells like a biter to me. If someone else all of a sudden started doing the same shit you were doing wouldn’t that annoy you?

I knew both of those kats since the warehouse on master street days. I’m not gonna use names but, “dick rider” definitely wasn’t stenciling on windows back when Gitty was inventing his whole style. And this is a fact. He didn’t start printing on windows till a year or 2 after they moved out of that warehouse. THAT IS THE ESSENCE OF A BITER! Yes he made a few small stencils while they lived together but to go steal his whole windows thing after they moved out? Sooooo fucking lame if you ask me! Get your facts straight person. I witnessed the whole progression with my own eyes. There’s a lot of haters in the art world, and apparently there’s a lot of biters too.

was giddy or skwrl or whoever the artist who had a show at north bowl a few years ago? and he did the tupac and old dirty windows? if so then yeah, homie def bit his style. even the imagery is similar! mos def. . . come on. i’m surprised they were even in the same opening together! what’s the point of havin multiple artists doing the same exact shit?

this conversation is hateful! but yes, rye def. bit gitty’s style. there’s no 2 ways about it. gitty started stenciling on windows his last year at drexel. rye didn’t start till atleast a year after they moved out of the their spot near the crane building. to say that they were creating work together for years is pushin it. as a matter of fact i don’t recall them ever collaborating. ever! rye’s my boy and all but he needs to do his own thing.

just to end this mockery of a conversation, i didn’t invent windows, i didn’t invent stenciling, & i certainly didn’t invent stenciling on windows. rye can print on whatever the fuck he wants and if you wanna talk shit please don’t do so on a public forum such as (what the fuck blog is this?). . . such as whatever the fuck blog this is. yall are idiots, rye and joey included. as long as people don’t bite direct imagery or individual ideas then it is what it is. nobody owns art, so do whatever the fuck you want.

        skwrl shnutz out.

agrees with skwerl. you guys are idiots, especially rye and joey. The guy just made some prints some happened to be on windows but most of them arent. If you ask rye im sure he would gladly tell you that yes skwerl did it before him but both he and skwerl know they arent the only people to have ever done it. Its funny, For being so concerned about dick riding, you all seem to be doing alot of it yourselves and if you actually knew what you were talking about you wouldnt be talking about it. quit hating and do something positive with yourselves. kudos to skwerl for trying to point these blog commenting knit wits in the right direction.

Yeah, who does this guy think he is ripping off FMW?! He even has the same shelves they had in their store. It’s almost like he worked there or something. FMW shouldnt let him sell their stuff for them.

    Open your eyes dude.

I just wanted to stay that a don’t quite understand why people have to hate on everything-
I think it’s great that a new spot opened on Girard… The more things to open, the safer the streets become there. And to those complaining about stock list and who they carry… Get over yourselves. Call the companies Lodge is carrying and I bet they won’t be complaining that they are featured in another neighborhood in a different area. Beyond that though, there are a lot of brands in that store that aren’t carried elsewhere: Further, Wintercheck, Merchant Army, Alex & Chloe, Nomaddicts, etc… that are all doing really amazing things. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but there is a difference in expressing what you feel instead of just sounding like your hating. We should probably just all start to support each other more then try to bring each other down.
