Hego’s #TakeMeImYours Visits Philly
A few weeks ago, I got an email from Sydney street artist, Hego. He asked if he could mail me one of his ‘Take Me I’m Yours’ street art installations, which is apart of a larger project that has sent out a number of Twinings tea bags around the world, asking their finders to:
“Pick me up and hold me, though please do so gently. Take me home and think of a place to put me in your city. Then magnet me up in a place you feel apt so I can continue my epic journey.”
Those who participate are encouraged to Tweet/Instagram about finding then releasing the pieces. (Reminds me of ‘Spineless Little Friends,’ a Philly street art project by Seasnacks with a similar idea.)
Either way, I really love this… Here’s a little YouTube video of the artist talking about this project at Sydney Art Biennale in 2010.
As you can maybe tell from the photos above, I stuck the piece that Hego sent me/us on Walnut street, between 6th and 7th streets. Feel free to go see if it’s still there, or to follow its – and all the others’ – journey with the hashtag #TakeMeImYours!
