JOIN ME: Streets Dept to Host #SignsOfChangePHL Design Philadelphia Artists Panel!

October 12, 2015

So excited to host this incredible artists panel. So excited to be apart of this amazing project (Next Stop: Democracy) that’s hiring Philly artists to help increase voter engagement. And SO excited that Design Philadelphia has asked us to host our unveiling show/panel discussion under their hella-respected umbrella of design/arts-related events.

Ok, the quick rundown…

WHO:
Next Stop: Democracy is a Knight Cities Challenge winning project that I’m working on that has hired 60 Philly artists to create 60 “Vote Here” signs to be placed around Philadelphia polling locations on Election Day, November 3rd. (#VoteNov3rd!)

The 60 artists we’re working with include a TON of names you know (especially as a reader of this blog), like: NoseGo, Isaiah Zagar, Joe Boruchow, Kid Hazo, Old Broads, Dominic Episcopo, Gaia, Harlequinade, Kelly Kozma, Hawk Krall, Brendan (Peopledelphia) Lowry, Amber Lynn, Ryan Beck, Jessie Mademann, Sean Martorana, Dennis Murphy, Mike L. Perry, Sophie Roach, Miriam Singer, Jason Andrew Turner, and MORE!

WHAT:
#SignsOfChangePHL is our Design Philadelphia event that will showcase ALL 60 of these amazing artist-created signs in one place. This will be the ONLY time to see these signs together – ever.

And the night kicks off with an hour-long artists panel discussion with NDA, Ishknits, Ryan Psota, Austin Seraphin, and Sonia Petruse, moderated by me! (The first panel I’ve hosted since our SUPER successful Philadelphia Museum of Art panel last May.)

WHERE:
Impact Hub, 1227 North 4th Street (4th street, between Girard and Thompson)

WHEN:
THIS Wednesday, October 14th from 6-9pm… BUT the artist panel discussion starts promptly at 6:30pm, so get there early! (The whole night, including the panel, is pay what you wish.)

WHY:
Forget for a second that this is all for a very important cause: to try and help positively effect Philadelphia’s dreadfully low voter turnout rates. Forget that the signs say “Vote Here.” This is 60 pieces of original artwork by DOZENS of Philadelphia’s most influential, most successful, most impassioned, and most amazing artists. Period. This is far and beyond the biggest art show I’ve EVER helped to pull together. And I’m quite frankly thrilled as shit to see this all come together after months of planning and work… And IT LOOKS SO INCREDIBLE! Seriously, can’t wait for y’all to see it!
