Y’all: Cira Green is Frigging AMAZING!
Three things I absolutely love (almost as much as street art/graffiti) are: 1) dynamic public spaces, 2) bold architecture, and 3) a really good view. I guess anyone who follows me on Instagram, in addition to reading this blog, would likely have inferred that by now. And Philly, this week we’ve got a brand new space that’s got ALL those things and more… Meet your new Instagram Mecca: #CiraGreen!
The brainchild of Developer Brandywine Realty Trust and Design Firms Erdy McHenry Architecture, Roofmeadow, and AKF Engineers, Cira Green is 1.25 acres of green-roof amazingness, offering quite possibly one of the BEST views of the Center City skyline. Perched 11-stories above the Schuylkill river in University City atop a parking garage, Cira Green is free and open to all from 7am-8pm now and through the winter, then 6am-10pm (possibly later, they’re playing it by ear) in the summer months.
To access Philly’s FIRST-ever elevated park(!), simply take the elevator found at the entrance on 30th street between Walnut and Chestnut streets. (Just follow all the super helpful signs.)
Now, come on picnic weather!
