Ann Hamilton’s STUNNING Installation on the Delaware River!
Y’all, this is incredible…
For the next couple of weeks, a truly breathtaking, interactive exhibit is free and open to the public right on the Delaware river, and you’re just insane if you don’t go check it out!
The installation is by an artist named Ann Hamilton, a visual artist internationally recognized for the sensory surrounds of her large-scale multi-media installations.
Ann is working in Philly as apart of The Fabric Workshop and Museum‘s Artist-in-Residence Program… Um, AMAZING work picking Ann, y’all!
This particular installation, a result of that Artist-in-Residence, is called habitus:
“In the vast space of Municipal Pier 9 on the Delaware River, visitors propel a field of gigantic cylindrical curtains to billow to atmospheric proportion. As cloth swaddles us at birth and covers us in sleep; as a folded blanket can tell a story of trade; as a flag carries the symbol of a nation, Hamilton’s multi-venue exhibition habitus invites us to touch and be touched by the fabric of human experience.”
The installation is located at Municipal Pier No. 9 (right next to Race Street Pier), and it’s open now until October 10th:
Tuesday–Sunday, 12–6pm
(Open until 8pm on Thursdays)
More information can be found HERE – don’t miss the Opening Reception this Saturday (September 17th) from 4-8pm!
