Streets Dept Special Tour: Art at PHL Airport 2019

December 1, 2019

Welcome to Streets Dept’s Special Tours, a new kind of guided tour exploring art around Philadelphia!

For this Streets Dept Special Tour we’ll be exploring Art At The Airport’s 2019 exhibitions! PHL Airport’s Exhibition Program is a nationally-recognized, award-winning visual arts initiative. The purpose of this program is to provide visibility for Philadelphia’s unique cultural life and to enrich the experience of the traveling public. And, as you’ll see on this tour, in addition to featuring the work of contemporary artists who primarily show in galleries, Art At The Airport showcases the work of many Philadelphia street artists and muralists.

Artists currently showing at Art At The Airport include Aubrie Costello, Martha Rich, Low Level, King Saladeen, Matty Geez, and Derick Jones to name a few. And if you join us for this special tour, you’ll actually be hearing from three of those artists, who will all be joining us to talk about their work: Aubrie Costello, Matty Geez, and Derick Jones!

Your tour will be co-led by Conrad Benner and Leah Douglas. Conrad is a Philly-born photographer, curator, and the founder of this here blog StreetsDept.com, an award winning photo-blog that’s been discovering art on the streets of Philadelphia since 2011. Leah is the Director of Exhibitions at Philadelphia International Airport; since 1998, she has curated and organized more than 300 exhibits that have featured artwork by Philadelphia area artists and arts institutions.
