Philly’s New Official “Sisterly” Nickname Gets Wheatpasted in Fishtown

January 30, 2020

A new wheatpaste today from Philly street artist Amberella, located at Frankford Avenue and Norris Street in Fishtown, celebrates Philly’s new official “sisterly” nickname!

As a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, which prohibits the states and the federal government from denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States on the basis of sex, the City of Philadelphia has officially changed its famous nickname to the “City of Sisterly Love”. The nickname change was passed as a resolution by Philadelphia City Council today, and it will last for just one year, through 2020.

I absolutely love this. And I love that someone clearly let Amberella in on the secret to be able to design and throw up this wheatpaste the very day our nickname changed! Very smooth, y’all.

See past works by Amberella around Philly here!
