New Wheatpaste by Doug Nox Celebrates Last 10 Years of Philly Street Art
A new wheatpaste today from Philly-based street artist Doug Nox (aka Harleqvin) pays homage to many of the street artists and graffiti writers who’ve put up in Philly over the last five to ten years.
The artists and writers celebrated in Doug’s new paste include the following (and feel free to click their names to be taken to a past Streets Dept interviews with those honored artists or past posts of their works on this blog): Amberella, Butter and Salmon, Pnub, Old Broads, Marisa Velázquez-Rivas, Under Water Pirates, Bines, As Above So Below, Curly, Void Skulls, Bob Will Reign, Radius, Blur, Sean 9 Lugo, Air Rat, Yerpske, Nosego, Dash, Get Up Art, Seper, Joe Boruchow, Seka, Tober, Ntel, Texas and Gane, Vedo El Toro, Ishknits, Nero, the Toynbee tiles, and Stikman!
The homages are centered around a sitting Gritty, who’s became an almost immediate reliable trope for Philly street artists.
While Doug put the paste up in a few different locations, the one photographed for this post is located at 6th and Federal Streets in South Philly.
I’m honestly not sure that I’ve ever seen a wheatpaste so full of Philly street art love in the nine years I’ve been running this blog. I am absolutely in LOVE with this! Great work, Doug!
