Streets Dept Presents: The 2020 Made-In-Philly Holiday Gift Guide

November 24, 2020

Welcome to Streets Dept’s 2020 Made-in-Philly Holiday Gift Guide! Now more than ever, please for the love of God and our city make sure every single one of the gifts you’re buying this holiday season comes from a local artist or shop. Every single one.

Readers of this blog will know that this is generally not the kind of content I usually create (though I did try to once in 2018), but I believe so deeply in the value of Philly’s arts community and in the work of our city’s incredible artists so I wanted to give this a try.

Below you’ll find the names and links of all the 100+ artists and shops that replied to my social media posts asking if any Philly folks had things to promote this holiday season. I’ve done my best to break these artists/makers up into a few helpful categories. In each subcategory the names are listed randomly. I encourage you to pour a glass a wine and take some time perusing each of the links that catches your eyes!

Thank you for supporting Philly artists, now get to shopping:

Canvas/ Print/ Mixed Media Art

Gifts for the Kids

Textile + Other

I make and sell scented soy candles in my home. I use clean burning scents free of known toxins and carcinogens as well as cotton wicks. I lost my job during COVID and turned a hobby I’ve had for 10+ years into a little side business! If you see any candles on my Etsy and would like to bypass the shipping option, you can message me and do free local pick up (19125)I can do custom orders and scents too!

Hey I’m a photographer based in Germantown that’s selling prints (framed or just prints) for the holidays and will write notes for those who order them as a gift to be mailed to someone. I’ve lost all my freelance gigs until January so my income in solely based on the part time work I can get. Appreciate you for highlighting awesome makers, businesses and artists.

I also recommend Gigi’s bonnets (black woman owned). She makes super cute satin lined bonnets

Hey there, I would love to be added to this awesome list of local artists and makers! My work is a collection of upcycled housewares and collage. I work with repurposed picture frames and glassware to create unique, etched home decor, and my collages are made entirely out of recycled security envelopes, all with the goal of promoting and encouraging sustainability. @turnstyleART
