Mural Celebrating Contemporary Philly Creative, Solomon Temple Rises in Kensington

January 15, 2022

Finally got a chance to see this new mural celebrating Philadelphia creative, Solomon Temple painted by artist Sarena Johnson! Located at Cecil B. Moore Avenue and Hancock Street in Kensington, the mural was created in collaboration with Theory Studios and completed this past November.

In addition to being a singer/song writer, Solomon is the producer and host of Songs For The Soul, an ongoing project created to heal, uplift, and edify the soul though music, art, and culture. If you’re new to Solomon’s work, there’s a great video conversation between them and Ursula Rucker that you should absolutely check out here!

In a city that paints hundreds of murals a year through various arts programs and businesses big and small, I really like when some of our walls can be used to celebrate the contemporary artists, creatives, and connectors who are part of sowing the seeds of our city’s present and possible future. I get so deeply inspired by the work of so many in this city, and that’s the kind of energetic boost I felt when I saw this mural.
