Help Old Broads and Disto Create A #PhillyTheBern Mural!
(Initial draft only)
Help us send a message to the DNC when they arrive in Philly this summer!
Hey y’all, as a BIG Bernie supporter I’m happy to announce today my involvement with this HUGE (read: ‘yuge’) #PhillyTheBern mural, and would love to ask for your support…
A little background: about two weeks ago, the owner of a building at 22nd and Catharine streets, Glass Properties, asked me if I’d be interested in helping them find a pair of artists/Bernie supporters who might like to collaborate on a Bernie Sanders mural to go up on their building. Almost immediately, two of my favorite artists, Old Broads and Disto, got back to me and said they’d be in.
Because, quite frankly we’re all so excited for this project, and also because we know how important it is to get this message of support out as soon as possible, we’re actually starting the mural today!
We’re able to do that because Glass Properties have graciously offered to upfront the costs of supplies, and cover those costs if we can’t ultimately raise the funds ourselves… And that’s where you come in (we hope!)
We’d love to ask for your help to fully fund this project – and to fully fund the artists who are both taking a full week off to paint it! Proceeds from your contributions will first cover the cost of the Kickstarter-only rewards. The next $3,000 will compensate the artists, who again are putting a TON of time and work into this huge mural. Thereafter, proceeds will reimburse the producers for costs. (Any remaining funds after that will go to the artists.)
Please consider donating HERE, any small amount helps… Sharing the Kickstarter and your reasons for supporting it help a ton too! THANK YOU!
UPDATE #1:
We’re two days into the mural and things are moving along nicely…
UPDATE #2:
It’s day three, we’re 65% funded with over 90 backers, and things are really starting to take shape…
UPDATE #3:
End of day four, we’re 92% funded, and Ntel stopped by to do the two smaller side walls!
UPDATE #4:
The mural is now complete, including Ntel‘s two side pieces, if you want to go check it out! I’ll be posting a photo of the finished mural this week (just waiting for some nicer weather.)
UPDATE #5:
The finished mural!!! This has just been, without a doubt, one of the highlights of my blogging career so far… THANK YOU to everyone who helped, everyone who donated, and everyone who just followed along in support <3 <3 <3
