Streets Dept Podcast – SN 3, EP 1: Reporting on Philadelphia and Beyond, A Conversation with Journalist Ernest Owens

November 26, 2019

Welcome to Season 3 of the Streets Dept Podcast! We’re very excited to be back for a third season interviewing the creative minds shaping the world around us, from Philadelphia and beyond. And as I announced last week, this season that tagline takes on an even truer meaning as we’ll be taking the podcast on a road trip. But as promised we are kicking off the season with a pair of Philadelphians.

To kick off this new season, we’ll be talking with Ernest Owens! Ernest is an award-winning journalist and Writer at Large for Philadelphia Magazine. Ernest covers a variety of social issues regarding race, LGBTQ, and pop culture. His work has been featured on CNN, USA Today, NPR, NBC News, and other media outlets. He serves on the board of directors of Philadelphia Community Access Media, the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists, and the Pen & Pencil Club, the nation’s oldest press club. His work has been awarded the NABJ Emerging Journalist of the Year Award, the PABJ Trailblazer Award, the James Aronson Social Justice Journalism Award, and several other honors.

Check out my conversation with Ernest Owens below, or on any major podcast streaming platform by searching “Streets Dept Podcast”!
